The International Coffee Council met in London at the headquarters of the International Coffee Organization (ICO) from 13 to 17 March 2017 and decided by consensus to appoint Mr José Dauster Sette as Executive Director of the organization for a five-year term.
Mr Sette recently resigned as Executive Director of the International Cotton Advisory Committee. He replaces former Executive Director Robério Oliveira Silva, who passed away at the age of 53 in December 2016.
As predicted in the March 2017 issue of Coffee & Cocoa International, the ICO has opted for a safe pair of hands in choosing Mr Sette, who will need to hit the ground running in order to build morale at the organisation, complete the strategic review of the ICO, implement the numerous recommendations coming out of it, and set it on a new path whilst addressing all of the many problems its members face.
Mr Sette is a former Head of Operations at ICO who was also interim Executive Director for a while. He resigned from his role at the International Cotton Advisory Committee on 31 January 2017.
