IMA Group in Italy, which through its subsidiary GIMA recently signed an agreement to acquire an 80 per cent interest in Mapster Srl, which designs, manufactures and markets automatic machines for the filling and packaging of capsules for the single-serve coffee sector, has signed an agreement with the Giberti family for the acquisition of 49 per cent of Petroncini Impianti SpA, the well known manufacturer of coffee roasting machines and coffee processing equipment.
Petroncini (whose equipment is shown here) is based in Ferrara, Italy, and has been designing, manufacturing and installing complete roasting coffee plants, and providing coffee roasting machines, for many years.
“Starting immediately, the respective sales organizations of the companies will work together in order to guarantee the best service and market presence and simultaneously take advantage of the manufacturing synergies and subcontracting systems of the IMA Group,” said the company in a statement.
“Thanks to these acquisitions, IMA/GIMA is now the only supplier able to offer fully integrated turn-key solutions, from green coffee to the final package of roasted coffee in capsules, pods, or in a bag.
“We exclusively offer a complete range of products, including secondary packaging for total single source responsibility as well as guaranteed overall line efficiencies.
“Our combined expertise will allow us to serve our broad and diverse customer base, and of equal importance, will showcase our potential opportunities with the provision of the latest in technology, innovation and superior customer support.”
The range of equipment that Mapster offers compliments the existing GIMA portfolio for single-serve applications, and will enable IMA to ability to offer complete turnkey solutions from 70 capsules per minute to 2,000 capsules per minute for all of the different capsule styles in the market, and for an array of beverages, including coffee and tea.
Mapster will be fully integrated into the IMA coffee sales organization and will take advantage of all of the sales tools.
