MEPS DEMAND EU END CHILD LABOUR IN COFFEE AND COCOA



More than 30 MEPs from across the political spectrum have signed a written question circulated in the European Parliament by MEP Ignazio Corrao to demand that the European Commission takes action to stop child labour in coffee and cocoa consumed in the EU.

MEP Corrao was appointed rapporteur for report Corporate Liability for Serious Human Rights Abuses in Third Countries. The report, adopted with 84 per cent of the votes of the plenary, invited the Commission to launch an EU-wide campaign that introduces and promotes an “abuse free label”.
