The first coffee exported from Peru to be branded with a new Peruvian brand name, Cafés del Perú, recently arrived in Europe.
Following collaboration between the Trade Office of Peru in Belgium, EFICO, Cenfrocafé and PromPeru, the first container of Cafés del Perú coffee arrived at Seabridge, EFICO’s green coffee logistics centre and warehouse.
The container contained Fair Trade organic coffee from Cenfrocafé, a co-operative in Cajamarca, northern Peru. The co-op has more than 2,000 farmer members.
Belgium is the third largest destination for Peruvian coffee in the EU and is known for being an important re-export destination in the coffee sector.
The final destination for this first container of Cafés del Perú coffee is French coffee roaster Les Cafés Sati in Strasbourg. EFICO is a long-time partner of Peruvian coffee co-operatives.
